Choi Soon-Hwa of Korea has broken the record as a Miss Universe contestant @ 81. She will join over twenty-five ladies to contest for the Miss Universe Korea title on the 29th of November, 2024.

This Miss Universe contestant @ 81, Choi Soon-Hwa, inspires every woman to pursue her dream. Here is her victory story.

Meet Choi Soon-Hwa of Korea

Choi got into a debt of hundred million dollars from helping someone else and she was almost seventy years old. Since she had no other way of paying off her debt, Soon-Hwa went job hunting. And luckily found work in a hospital, where a patient dropped the modelling idea in her head.

But the seventy-year-old protested, “No, modelling is for young people”. Yet her patient insisted she could be a senior model. Choi Soon-Hwa dared to latch onto that dream and started practising to walk straight for two hours every night. That took her two years, till she got an offer which she accepted.

Thereafter, Choi received runway jobs which she walked happily without telling her family and friends. However, after three years of modelling secretly, she told her son. His support came so easily that she was brave enough to tell her friends who were also happy for her.

Now, after six years as a senior model, Soon-Hwa takes another bold step; contesting for Miss Universe Korea title.

To round off, Choi Soon-Hwa is the oldest Miss Universe contestant @81, because because there is no limit for eligibility. Everyone is welcome to contest. If she wins the Korean title, she will be the oldest contestant in the history of beauty pageants.
