MARIE-JEANNE LAMARTINIERÉ OF HAITI

Back in the early 1800s was a young lady of Haiti. She was a soldier and the wife of a soldier. She was actually her husband’s aide-de-camp. Brigade Commander Loius D. Lamatinieré.

An Amazon for the freedom of her people. During the Forte de la Crete revolution, she fought gallantly with the army. She was all over the war front; distributing cartridges, loading guns, rushing to the front to fight with the soldiers.

Her fierce passion for freedom consumed them. They defeated the French soldiers three times and even injured their generals who were unprepared for such defeats.

She caught their interest. Who was this woman who was leading her people so many military victories?

Dessalines the Army General had said he would keep only the brave soldiers in the battle front. MARIE-JEANNE was doing everything needed to be one of the brave soldiers.

Eighteen days of waring and the Haitians were the victors. MARIE-JEANNE LAMARTINIERÉ was there to make It count.
